First Day Of School and A Bike Ride

Giving thanks for such a wonderful day.  God's goodness has been surrounding me today.  Deuteronomy 3:24  "O Sovereign LORD, you have begun to show to your servant your greatness and your strong hand. For what god is there in heaven or on earth who can do the deeds and mighty works you do?"  I love that this scripture verse says "begun" I hope that what God has shown me and is continuing to show me is only just the beginning.  I pray that God will continue to shed his wisdom on this journey and remind that He has prepared the way for this whole journey, peace for the entire journey, and grace for the moment.  I know I type this often, but I too need the reminder frequently, especially on days (like today) when I am just missing my husband, my best friend, my partner, my lover... my man.  Nothing about this journey gets easier, but when God's strong hand is guiding our steps it makes the journey worth it all... someday knowing that He will fulfill all His promises, it will be worth it all.  Knowing one day I will stand before the King, face to face, it will be worth it all.

Thank you all so much for your prayers for Mackenzie's first day at her new school here.  She had a wonderful day.  I emailed her teacher late morning to see how Mackenzie's day was getting along and she emailed me back at lunch time telling me that Mackenzie was doing awesome and that the girls in her class were fighting over who got to show her around.  When I picked her up this afternoon, Mackenzie was non-stop about all the fun she had at school today!  It was so awesome, she even said and I quote "mom, I love school"!!!

As if that wasn't enough to make my day awesome, Adam had an amazing day too.  Today during physical therapy with Erin he went for a bike ride!  It's a stationary bike that his wheelchair pulls right up to.  It's motorized, but allows the user to do all the work too.  It tells you when the person is doing the work verses the motor kicking in and doing the work.  It also tells you the percentage of what leg is working when the person is doing the work for themselves.  Anyway, Adam rode the bike for 15 minutes.  4 of those minutes he did it all by himself!  One stretch he did 2 and a half minutes all by himself!!!!  During this stretch I kept encouraging him and telling him he could do it, I kept telling him he was getting stronger and I was watching the screen, the more I encouraged him the harder he pushed himself.  At one point his right leg was doing 42%!!!  This is incredible because Adam has a left side brain injury and the left side of the brain controls the right side of the body so to see him push himself that hard was incredible!!!!  My man is amazing, I am so proud of him and how hard he worked today!!!!  This pretty much tuckered him out the rest of the day, he worked so hard that he couldn't even wake up for speech therapy this afternoon.  His team was all talking about what an amazing job he did today in PT.

Since Adam was fighting that cold last week, his trach has somewhat got messed up, so tomorrow morning he has an appointment with a specialist at Massachusetts General Hospital with a ENT.  Hopefully they will tell us that everything looks good and that we can get his trach out.  Please pray for this appointment, if all goes well we will be able to find out when Adam's trach will  come out.  Also pray that Adam will still be able to have a good day in therapies tomorrow even though it will be a busy day and a field trip.  I do get to go with Adam to his appointment and I will get to ride with him so that will be good.

I ask you all to say a prayer for me, I threw my back out last week lifting Adam and then the 17 hour car ride from NC to MA didn't help any.  I am seeing a chiropractor, and a physical therapist, but please pray that it will heal quickly, I have had to let my back rest and not do all of Adam's care myself, I have had to rely on the nursing staff to help and I am not too good at that.  I love taking care of my man and I don't like sharing that role, so please pray that my back will heal quickly and that I can get back to doing all of Adam's care and not just supervising.

Tomorrow I will take a picture (if my camera cooperates) of our current postcard wall so you all can see.  Thank you so much for your prayers, letters, care packages, and postcards... they have been such an inspiration to me.  I love you all so much, thank you for walking this difficult journey with us, what a blessing you all are.

I was praying all day for Mackenzie. I'm so happy for her. Rejoice! Also while at Target today I was looking at gray CREW neck shirts for Adam. : ) Just tell us when to send them! However I think he may need long sleeve shirts up in Beantown.

Is your camera working? The photos I took of my dad during his hospitalization were not any that I have shared, but cherish.
